Tasneem Motlekar’s journey reflects her deep-rooted understanding of South African culture, combined with a vision of global influence in fashion. Starting from Johannesburg with strong family influences in fashion, her style and sensibility were shaped by the diverse experience for over a decade.
After completing her degree in fashion design in 2009, Tasneem honed her skills under Mariam Seedat at Moda Lounge, gaining valuable insights into the industry before launching her own label, Tasmo, in 2014. Starting with just two sewing machines, she built her brand with a focus on locally produced garments that carry an international flair—an aspect she felt was missing in South Africa. Over the years, her brand has evolved into a beloved name, embodying a modern, globally chic style that resonates with practical femininity.
Tasneem’s commitment to sustainability, quality, and affordability shines through her work. Her boutique spans various styles and techniques, from tailoring to beadwork, offering ready-to-wear garments and accessories in natural fabrics. Her dedication to responsible business practices extends to offering custom revamping and alterations, making her designs not only stylish but personalized to each client’s needs.
